Professional Experience


1994 to present - Private Law Practice - Virtual Law Office

Created and operated the Virtual Law Office providing legal and business services to clients in California and Washington.

Services provided included:
  1. family law - dissolutions, custody and child support
  2. business matters - incorporations, initial business start-up, contracts, negotiated sale of business, employee/employer matters, distribution agreements
  3. civil rights case; and (iv) misc. civil law matters
1989 to 1995 - CFO/CEO/General Council/Director/Staff Counsel/Marketing Executive - (various titles & responsibilities as firm grew)

Originally responsible for operations of a high-tech firm including product development, marketing, advertising, accounting, staffing, personnel and legal functions, negotiated and established European distribution system. Developed and implemented technology licensing programs and procedures. Software Product Manager. Developed dealer program and distribution plan. Trained internal staff and customers on protocol and technology. Developed and implemented world wide intellectual property, patent and trademark program, supervised outside counsel, evaluated and developed case plan for outside litigation, drafted and prepared licenses, support agreements and consulting contracts. Prepared budgets and forecasts. Member Board of Directors - 1989 -1993

1987-1989 - President/Director - wire and sheet metal fabrication business.

Turn around situation - reorganized company and established internal accounting procedures. Redesigned marketing material and utilized telemarketing to sell directly to retail stores on a nation wide basis. Sold interest to work on next project listed above. Annualized sales of approximately $1.0 million

1981 - 1986 - Private Law Practice - general law practice with emphasis on small businesses.

Practice grew to include two offices and 5 associate attorneys. Represented firms in high tech, manufacturing, marine, entertainment, retail business as well as limited partnerships for real estate development. Handled incorporations, mergers, sales and purchases in addition to routine general law matters. (See also staff counsel description above) Practice was restricted to selected clients when I accepted a full time business position in 1989 and closed my offices.

1977 - 1981 - CFO/Director - HMO

Responsible for all financial and operational functions of company including accounting and actuarial aspects; designed and implemented computer system; wrote five year account specific business plan that lead to Federal HMO qualification. Assisted in drafting and preparing state registrations and licensing.

1977-1992 - College Instructor

Part time visiting instructor teaching, management, business, finance, economics and law at University of Southern California, John F. Kennedy University, Merriott College, College of Alameda, City College of Chicago and for the United States Navy.

1975 -1977 - Credit Analyst

Administered commercial credit for Agricultural Chemical Division of multinational firm. Responsible for all credit and collections functions for 48 states. Credit authority up to $25 million.

1968 -1972 - Officer United States Air Force

  Aircraft Maintenance Officer. Command experience.

Civic & Other Activities

President - Coastal Conservation Coalition - 1992 to present - Palos Verdes California The CCC is a coalition of environmental and outdoor recreation groups including the Sierra Club, Audubon Society, PV Horseman, Save Our Coastline 2000, Peninsula Preservation, Endangered Habitat League, the Animal Protection Society and private citizens.

The charter of the CCC is to work with governments and developers to insure development is environmentally sensitive, provides public recreation and complies with the law.
